Os gwelir fi bechadur
Os gwelir fi bererin

1,2,3a;  1,3b.
(Dedwydd Fuddugoliaeth)
Os gwelir fi, bechadur,
  Ryw ddydd ar ben fy nhaith,
Rhyfeddol fydd y canu
  A newydd fydd yr iaith,
Yn seinio buddugoliaeth
  Am iachawdwriaeth lawn
Heb ofni colli'r frwydyr
  Na bore na phrynhawn.

Fe genir ac fe genir
  Yn nhragwyddoldeb maith
Os gwelir un pererin
  Mor llesg ar ben ei daith,
A gurwyd mewn tymhestloedd,
  A olchwyd yn y gwaed,
A gannwyd ac a gadwyd
  Drwy'r iachawdwriaeth rad.

Os dof fi drwy'r anialwch
  Rhyfeddaf fyth dy ras,
A'm henaid i lonyddwch
  'R ôl ganwaith golli'r maes;
y maglau wedi eu torri,
  A'm traed yn gwbwl rydd:
Os gwelir fi fel hynny,
  Tragwyddol foli a fydd.

[Os caiff y fath bechadur,
   Sydd ffiaidd, aflan, noeth,
 O flaen dy orsedd sefyll,
   Pan byddo'r byd yn boeth;
 A'm dyled wedi thalu,
   A'r orsedd-faingc yn rhydd,
 A'r Iesu arna'i'n gwenu,
  Fy nghan un fythol fydd.]
fi, bechadur :: fi, bererin

(Blessed Victory)
If I am seen, a sinner,
  Some day at the end of my journey,
Marvellous will be the singing
  And new will be the language
Resounding "Victory"
  For full salvation
Without fear of losing the battle
  In neither morning nor afternoon.

It will be sung and sung
  Throughout eternity
If one pilgrim is seen
  So weary at the end of his journey,
Beaten in tempests,
  Washed in the blood
Born and kept
  Through the salvation free of cost.

If I come through the desert
  I will marvel forever at thy grace,
And my soul to stillness
  After a hundred times losing the field;
The snares having been cut,
  And my feet completely free:
If I am seen thus,
  Eternal praise will be.

[If such a sinner may get,
   Who is detestable, unclean, naked,
 Before thy throne to stand,
   When the world gets hot;
 And my debt has been paid,
   And the judgment-throne free,
 And Jesus upon me smiling,
   My song an everlasting one shall be.]
I ... a sinner :: I ... a pilgrim
nor afternoon :: nor the afternoon

tr. 2007 Richard B Gillion

(Anticipation)
If I, the sin-benighted,
  At length attain the goal,
O what will be the transport
  Of my enraptured soul:
The triumph celebrating
  Of saving Mercy's power,
Nor dread again to perish,
  Nor wander evermore!

Sung shall it be forever
  If on that final day
One weary pilgrim's record
  Reads, "kept throughout life's way."
Born into His safe keeping,
  Though threatened by life's flood,
Of free salvation singing,
  Washed in the Saviour's blood.

If I should cross this desert
  To see the Saviour's face,
Though many times I've fallen,
  I'll marvel at thy grace.
The fowler's snare then broken,
  My feet for heaven set free,
My song in Thy near presence
  Will endless praises be.
